Remembering Smokey Smith

Hi guys. It’s Remembrance Day in Canada, and I’d like to share this link to a Veteran Affairs tribute to Smokey Smith, my second cousin. Smokey is the only Canadian private ever to receive the Victoria Cross. He got it for single-handedly fighting off three German Panther tanks and about 10 infantry during the Italian Campaign in the Second World War.

So… if you happen to share a drink today in honour of the troops, as is the custom here in Canada, I don’t think Smokey will mind if you hoist one to him.
